Colorful Thursday - 48-2017

Today is a color challenge using this picture as inspiration.

I used the colors along with the graphic feeling of the presents.

I cut a star on my Explore using the cartridge Teresa Collins December 25th and cut a rectangle around it at the same time to use as the mat for the plaid paper.  I used the Explore to write the sentiment (Cricut Calligraphy Collection) at the same time it cut the star. I mounted it on plaid paper from The Paper Studio's Plaid Tidings. A few smaller stars were done with a punch.  The result turned out a lot more country feeling than the original picture. - Denise

WOW Wednesday - 48-2017

WOW Wednesday is the day to kick it up a bit with sparkle.

I love to use stamps that don't take a lot of added work to look great and this stamp from Unity called Winter Frosty is one of those.  After stamping him out, I quickly colored the scarf, hat, leaves and berries along with the buttons and nose.  I added some Wink of Stella to his body and used Stickles on the snow around him.  After it dried, I tore around the image and put it on some plaid paper form a pack by The Paper Studio that is just full of Christmas plaid paper. It was mounted on a Kraft card base and because the sentiment is a part of the image, it was done. - Denise

A close up of the sparkle.

Thank You Tuesday - 48-2017

I tried a new stamp and die set for this Thank You card.

I don't have a lot of dies to match my stamps, because I usually just use my Cricut Explore, but this set with the stamps and dies was a special price, so I decided to get it.  It is from Altenew and is called Winter Cardinal.  Because it is a layered stamp I needed to have four colors of red.  The only way I had that many was to use a combination of Distress and Oxide inks.  I started with a light red Oxide ink, which I think worked out better than starting with a Distress ink since those don't always work well with clear stamps. I mounted him on a piece of white wood-grained embossed paper, also from Altenew, that I just love because it is embossed with such a fine grain. I double matted in red and black on a white card base.  I decided it needed something so I added the gold glitter washi tape and used the same tape to attach the sentiment plus covered the cardinal with Wink of Stella. - Denise

Masculine Monday - 48-2017

I love to make masculine cards and I played around with two different coloring techniques to make similar cards.

This card was done by stamping with Versafine on watercolor paper and then painting with a wet brush and Distress Ink in various colors.  I then brushed around the edges with Distress Ink in Vintage Photo. I took a skewer and used the tip to add some white drops of acrylic paint for "snow". The image and sentiment are from a Unity KOM called Conspiracy of Love. I matted it on a scarp of plaid paper I had and matted it on a kraft card base.

I used the same image for this card, but stamped it with a dye ink and colored it with pencils.  I used Gamsol to blend the pencil and it really makes a difference.  I wanted to do a more night-time background.  I stamped the truck on a scrap piece of paper and held it over the truck while I used a blending tool to blend Distress Oxide ink around it.  I started with Fossilized Amber in front and out the window and put Faded Jeans everywhere else.  I then sprinkled water on it and patted it dry with a paper towel.  I then used Distress Spray in Picket White to spray over the image to look like snow.  I distressed the sentiment in the same way using mostly the yellow color.  I like the night effect and will practice more with it. - Dense

Clean and Simple Sunday 48-2017

I am looking forward to making Christmas cards this week.  Sundays are the Clean and Simple day for the challenge and I came up with a card that came together in a snap.

Close up

Inside

For this card I took a piece of gold velum and inked up an image and sentiment from the Unity October 2017 KOM set called Conspiracy of Love with Versafine black ink.  I then put a black glitter embossing powder from WOW on it and heat embossed it  I purchased this on clearance and this was the first I used it, but I really like it.  I tried to take a picture of the sparkle on the closeup.  I put it on a black card base and then stamped another sentiment from the same stamp set with the Versafine, but embossed it with clear embossing powder and attached that to the inside of the card.  I like to use heat embossing on velum because it keeps the ink from smearing. I thought it turned out very elegant and was done so quickly. - Denise

One Stamp Set Saturday - 47-2017

For my final card this week, following this month's Christmas Card theme, I made a one layer card.

Here's my card

I started by placing a piece of post-it tape horizontally across the card. I then stamped using The Ton's Holiday Flourish and Hero Arts Shadow Inks (Field Greens and Pale Tomato). I carefully removed the post-it tape and stamped the sentiment. To emphasize the sentiment area, I used bundled sage distress marker to draw lines where the edges of the post-it tape were.

Thanks for popping by.

Friday Freestyle - 47-2017

Back again with another card for this month's Christmas Card theme. Today is Freestyle Friday which gives me some freedom to create any card I want keeping in mind this month's theme.

Here's my card

For this card, I used Simon Says STAMP Ornaments stamp set inked up with Color Box Classic Pigment Paintbox Bright inks. For the ombre effect, when inking the stamp, I brought the stamp to the ink and moved slightly side to side to ensure that there would be no harsh line between the colours. I then fussy cut the ornaments. The orament tops were heat embossed with gold embossing powder. The sentiment is from Neat & Tangled Bright Baubles and was also heat embossed with gold embossing powder. I felt the card needed something more, so I added a thin strip of gold cardstock to the left side.

Thanks for dropping by. See you tomorrow

Colorful Thursday - 47-2017

Hi! It's Colorful Thursday where the challenge is to use this month's theme - Christmas Cards and this color prompt.

Image may contain: indoor

Here's my card

I incorporated white, black and gold onto my card, as inspired by the color prompt. I used Catherine Pooler's Hip Holiday stamp set. I fussy cut the parts of the tree and re-assembled it on the card panel. I heat embossed the sentiment and bow, which I also fussy cut, with gold embossing powder. I matted the entire panel on gold cardstock.

Thanks for dropping by. See you tomorrow.

WOW Wednesday - 47-2017

Hi! Back again with another card for this month's Christmas Cards monthly theme and today's challenge, WOW Wednesday. For WOW Wednesday, the card needs to be stepped up using sequins, glitter pens, Nuvo drops, etc.

Here's my card

For this card, I started with Neat & Tangled Bright Baubles stamp set. I heat embossed using both gold, silver and silver sparkle embossing powders the tree and ornaments. The sentiment is from the same stamp set. To add a bit more interest, I matted both the tree panel and sentiment panel on gold cardstock.

Thanks for dropping by, see you tomorrow.

Thank You Tuesday - 47-2017

Hi! I'm here with another card for this month's Christmas Cards theme. Today's challenge is a "thank you" challenge. Here's my card

I purchased this super cute Hero Arts H5457 Winking Reindeer. I usually don't purchase wood block stamps because I find them difficult to store. However, I just couldn't resist this reindeer. I heat embossed using gold embossing powder both the cute reindeer and the sentiment from Papertrey Ink's Keep It Simple: Gift Thanks stamp set. I decided to mat the reindeer on gold for a bit more shine, which makes the card difficult to photograph.

See you tomorrow

Masculine Monday - 47-2017

Hi! It's Sue with a new card for Masculine Monday. For my card, I chose to use blues and turquoise, which I consider to be masculine colours for my Christmas card.

Here's my card

I stamped the tree from Simon Says STAMP Color the Trees onto 96 lb bristol and added colour using Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and a water brush. I fussy cut the tree. I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set using Hero Arts Summer Sky ink. I popped the tree up with dimensionals and added a few sequins for a bit of sparkle. I matted the card with a turquoise paper.

I'll be back tomorrow with another card.

Clean and Simple Sunday 47-2017

Hi! It's Sue and I'll be here this week at Card A Day Challenge.

Our monthly theme is Christmas Cards.

Here's my card

I started by inking some white cardstock using Catherine Pooler's Peppermint Stick background stamp from the Candy Cane Lane Stamp of Approval box, inked with Hero Arts Pale Tomato ink. I die cut the "Joy" using Hero Arts Joy Stamp & Cut. For the "dot" above the j, I chose instead to add some holly and berries. For the holly leaves and the "to the world", I used Hero Arts Field Greens Mid-Tone Shadow Ink.  I matted the card panel with red to make the card panel pop.

Be back tomorrow with a new card.

Today's card was fun and easy to create.  I started with an A2 card base.  I created the lined background with an embossing folder.  The red embellishnment is red glitter paper.  The sentiment (Impression Obsession) is stamped in red ink onto white c/s, die cut from an Impression Obsession die.  I adhered the panel onto gold mirror paper cut from a Spellbinder's die.

WOW Wednesday

Today's Prompt:  WOW Wednesday

I created my "WOW" a bit differently this month.  I made the card base abd frame tone on tone to allow the sentiment to take center stage.  I used an embossing folder to create the top panel and trimmed it a bit smaller than the A2 card base.  I die cut a circle in the middle to create a frame for the sentiment.  I stamped the sentiment and berries with red and green ink directly onto the card base.  The stamp set is Merry and Bright Boughs" from Catherine Pooler's SOA (Candy Cane Lane).

Masculine Monday

Today's Prompt:  Masculine Monday

The background paper is from Tim Holtz's new paper pack.  I trimmed the background paper to A2 size and adhered to the same size card base.  The label die cut, focal image and sentoment is from Catherine Pooler's "Candy Cane Lane"  SOA.  I die cut the label from white c/s and stamped both images in brown ink.  I adhered it flat to the card front to allow for easy mailing.  I think it would also look good raised with pop dots.

One Stamp Set Saturday 45-2017

Today's challenge is to create a Christmas-themed card using one stamp/die set.

I started my card today with a stamp set from Raisin Boat called "Believe in Christmas".  I miss Raisin Boat.  I stamped the images with Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I colored the images with Spectrum Noir markers.  I then fussy cut the images out.  I die cut the window using my Silhouette.  I used a white piece of card stock and sponged with Salty Ocean Distress ink masking off a moon (or Sun).  I adhered the snowman, placed acetate over the snowman, then added the greenish-brown paper and window frame.  I adhered the children peeking out the window.  The sentiment came from the stamp set. Y'all have a Happy Thanksgiving and I will see you next month!  Gracie

Friday Freestyle 45-2017

Today's challenge is to create any card you want using a Christmas card theme.  Too easy!!!

This was a fun card to make.  It is a take on the "peeking sentiment" technique.  I have a really old hymnal from the early 1900's.  "Old Little Town of Bethlehem" is in there with illustrations.  Beautiful!  I copied the page on my printer to use on my card (couldn't find a copyright so no problem there).  I backed it with some Christmas paper I believe is old Creative Memories.  I folded back the corners and adhered it to a black card stock base.  I added some green glitter holly leaves from Michael's, some red rhinestones, and a small green bow made of glitter tulle.  I die cut the sentiment using gold glitter card stock.  I made several more.  I loved it!  Gracie

Colorful Thursday 45-2017

Today's challenge is to create a Christmas card using the colors in the picture above for inspiration.  This was challenging for a Christmas card!

After several starts and stops and attempts thrown away, I finally came up with a card I was happy with.  I die cut snowflakes from plain yellow card stock and gold glitter card stock and the sentiment from black card stock.  On the plain card stock snowflakes and sentiment I added clear Versamark ink and clear embossing powder and heat embossed them making them very shiny.  I adhered everything to a white glitter card stock base and added black enamel heat set stones for accent.  I was very pleased with my last attempt!  Gracie

WOW Wednesday 45-2017

Today's prompt is to create a Christmas card, stepping it up with sequins, glitter pens, etc.  No problem there!

I started off today with a white card stock base.  I used three snowflake dies and die cut them in blue and purple glitter card stock.  I die cut my sentiment in silver glitter card stock.  I mounted the white panel to a silver glitter panel then trimmed the edges off my snowflakes.  I added some blue glitter enamel dots.  It wouldn't be Christmas without glitter!  Gracie

Thank You Tuesday 45-2017

Today's prompt is to create a Christmas-themed thank you card.

I love pictures of snow.  Pictures.  Not snow.  We hardly ever see snow here in the South.  I decided to use snow on my thank you card.  I die cut Christmas trees from green glitter card stock.  I die cut the hills using stitched landscape dies.  I sponged a white panel lightly with Salty Ocean Distress ink using a sponge dauber masking off an area for a moon.  It was just a matter of adhering the pieces down after sponging.  I die cut the Thank You from green glitter card stock.  I love the simplicity of the card.  Gracie

Masculine Monday 45-2017

Today's prompt is to create a masculine Christmas card.

Around our house this time of the year it's all about the deer.  How many points did they have?  How many did you kill this season?  Where did you hunt?  Yep.  The only thing to use is a reindeer!  I die cut a reindeer from gold glitter card stock and placed it on a brown card stock panel.  I used a red, white and green ribbon from Ki called Joyful Runway (it's self adhesive!) for embellishment.  I die cut the sentiment from green glitter card stock  It is on a red card stock base.  I just hope no one brings Bambi home...  Gracie

Clean and Simple Sunday 45-2017

Hello everyone!  It's Gracie here for the week as the CADC Designer.
Hope you are getting ready for Christmas!  I know I am!

This month's Monthly Theme is... drum roll...
Christmas cards!

Today's challenge is to create a clean and simple card.  Do you know how hard it is to keep Christmas cards clean and simple???

I started with a white card base.  I used a die cut to make a simple poinsettia using two different red card stock colors and green for the leaves (I used a poinsettia I received in a swap last year as inspiration and do not know who to give credit to).  I sponged the tips of the leaves and flowers with Fired Brick ink and added a white enamel dot to the center.  I die cut the merry sentiment from gold glitter card stock.  I used my corner rounder on the edges of the card.  I did it!  One layer!  Gracie

One Stamp Set Saturday 44-2017

Today's prompt is to use the die cut masking & stamping technique using only one stamp/die set.

I love this!  This may be how I make my Christmas cards this year!  I die cut some holly leaves (two sizes) and berries and simply placed them in the corners in a circular fashion.  I sponged with Mowed Lawn Distress ink.  The berries were sponged with fired brick.  I added Wink of Stella to the holly leaves and Crystal Effects to the berries after highlighting with a white Gelly Roll pen.  I added dots and swirls with a silver glitter pen.  I put the panel on a red card base.  Done!   Gracie

Friday Freestyle 44-2017

Today's prompt is to create any card using the die cut masking and stamping technique.

Today I chose a mason jar die.  I die cut a blank from card stock and used it to mask as a stencil.  I sponged the center very lightly with Crushed Olive Distress ink.  I sponged around it lightly with Tumbled Glass.  I used my Spectrum Noir markers to add detail to the lid and shadows in the jar.  I die cut the sentiment from olive card stock  I added twine.  The panel is on a blue base and the card base is lighter blue.  I love how this card turned out in very little time!  Gracie

Colorful Thursday 44-2017

Today's challenge is to create a card using the color prompt above and the die cut masking & stamping technique.

The color prompt is perfect for fall!  I chose a flower die that reminds me of mums.. I love them in the Fall but they don't last long enough!  The frost gets them!  I die cut the flower from craft foam and used it to stamp using Spiced Marmalade, Seedless Preserves, Fired Brick and Mustard Seed Distress inks.  I added some Wink of Stella to the petals.  I die cut the sentiment from gold glitter card stock and placed the panel on cranberry card stock  I used a white card base.  I added three gold enamel dots.  Go raid your kid's crafts for craft foam!  It works!!!  Gracie

WOW Wednesday 44-2017

It's WOW Wednesday and the prompt is to step up the card with some bling using sequins, glitter pens, etc.  Right up my bling loving alley!

I have a dandelion die I just love.  I love it even more using this technique!  It looks like the whisps are just floating away!  I die cut the dandelion then used it as a mask to sponge around it moving it up and lightly sponging using Scattered Straw Distress ink.  The sentiment was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and is from So Suzy Stamps.  I added rhinestones to each petal of the dandelion.  I placed the panel on some gold plaid paper from Simple Stories Hello Fall.  The card base is white.  I think this turned out to be my favorite card this week!  Gracie
